Lease to Own Beehive

If you fall in love with beekeeping and decide to keep your hive and bees permanently, we have a clear path to ownership. You are required to complete our one-on-one beekeeping course and a season of Lease to Own Winter Preparation and Subscription. Once these steps are complete, ownership will be legally transferred from San Francisco Peaks Apiary LLC to you, accompanied by a commemorative certificate renaming your hive.

If you are in it now for the hobby, what better way to start than keeping the hive and bees you worked with all Spring and Summer? Heck, you may have already named your Queen!

Handing over the reins of the hive to your family is one of my favorite services—but the work isn't over yet. In addition to the basic beekeeping course and hands-on instruction you've received, we must now prepare the hive to survive winter in Flagstaff.

That is why there is one final seasonal service to complete: Winter Preparation. Just like in Spring and Summer, your hive will be inspected as weather permits, and food stores will be replenished if needed. Your education will continue as we install internal temperature and humidity sensors in critical zones. We will also add specialized insulation to give your bees the best possible chance to come out of winter strong and ready for Spring.
